Wrexham 1, Lincoln City 0
City will be rueing not making their chances count as they suffered their second consecutive defeat – this time a narrow, cruel blow on the road at Wrexham on Tuesday night (November 26).
Captain Paudie O’Connor had the first effort of the game after Sean Roughan whipped in a set piece from the right that was won by Conor McGrandles. Bailey Cadamateri fired wide after the ball bounced around in the box after another set piece from Roughan.
The Imps continued to threaten right into the second half with efforts going wide, hitting the crossbar or going over and it was Wrexham who took the lead when their danger man Ollie Palmer saw his strike deflected off City defender Tendayi Darika and into the back of the net.
City to press with a few more chances around the Wrexham goal but were unable to make the most of them.
Head coach Michael Skubala felt his side deserved a lot more from the game: "I thought we performed really well, and we're massively frustrated because we thought we did enough to get something out of that game. We had some big chances and have to score them.
"It's a tough place to come, they're up near the top of the league, and I felt we outplayed them, and our tactical plan worked really well. We managed the game really well, kept the crowd quiet and did everything but score really. We used the ball really well and switched play well.
"It's frustrating for everybody because we have to start winning games and picking up points. At the end of the day you have to take your chances.
"We've got to keep working hard, keep working to try and get through it, and keep demanding from ourselves. When we review the game we’ll know we've played well but ultimately we want points."
