Street in training for Imps after loan spell
City forward Rob Street is determined to make an impact with the Imps this term, following a highly successful loan spell with Doncaster Rovers in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
The 23-year-old fired Rovers to the Sky Bet League Two title with 12 goals, including a title-winning brace at Notts County on the final day of the season.
Now back at the Elite Performance Centre for pre-season, Street says he’s feeling confident ahead of the upcoming campaign.
“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, its been great to be back at the EPC again and I know everyone is buzzing to be back,” Street said.
“I really enjoyed my time with Doncaster, to go out on loan, score some goals and get a promotion under my belt as well was really beneficial.
“Its the first silverware of my career and hopefully it won’t be the last, once you get a taste of success you want to go and do it again and that’s what I'll be working hard to do.
“The past six months has certainly given me confidence, and my aim is to replicate that form here. I’ve had a great off-season, I’m feeling fit and I’m feeling strong. Now my focus is to hit the ground running.
“The main thing about pre-season is getting back up to speed again, impressing the staff and that’s my main aim right now.”
There’s plenty of competition for places in the forward line, with James Collins, Ben House and Freddie Draper all vying alongside Street for a place in Michael Skubala’s starting XI.
This is something the striker believes will only benefit the team.
He added: “I want to take my form from the league below into the new campaign and prove myself at this level.
“I’m determined to be able to do that here. It’s important to have competition for places, you don’t want anything to be handed to you, you’ve got to work for everything.
“There’s competition for places right throughout the squad and that can only help us as a team.”
