Runners raise thousands for Lincoln City Foundation
Twenty runners have raised thousands of pounds for a city charity by taking part in the Lincoln 10k on Sunday.
The event saw more than 4,500 runners participate, with the fastest recorded time being 30 minutes and 13 seconds posted by Patrick Roddy.
Runners raising money for the Lincoln City Foundation included Fighting Fit participant Lisa Lear, who said her involvement with the weekly session inspired her to take part.
Fighting Fit is a weekly fitness and social session supporting people living with or recovering from cancer.
Lisa said: “I’m really proud of myself, it’s a real sense of achievement, I thought I’d have to walk at some point but the crowds cheering us on kept me going.
“The Foundation means a lot to me and without them I would have really struggled through my treatment, I was able to keep going once a week. Fighting Fit helps all of us with whatever we have going on.”
Alice Carter, the Foundation's head of healthier communities, ran alongside Lisa.
She said: "Thank you and well done to everyone who chose to represent the Foundation while taking part in the Lincoln 10K. We're all grateful that they wanted to help raise money for us and help us support people in Lincolnshire.
"The run is a highlight of the calendar and everyone looked to be having a great time. Congratulations to everyone who took part!"
