McGrandles hopes to feature in Imps’ home win
Conor McGrandles says he will be proud to make his 150th City appearance on Saturday against Plymouth Argyle.
If the midfielder is selected it will be the 150th time he’s taken to the pitch for the Imps with the Scotsman appearing in five seasons over three different spells at the LNER Stadium.
McGrandles (pictured) revealed it will be mean a great deal to him to reach the milestone if he is picked against Plymouth.
He said: “It’ll be a good achievement if I make an appearance on Saturday, I’ll be really proud. I didn’t think when I came here the first time I’d get to that amount of appearances so if I do manage to feature it’ll be a really proud one."
The 29-year-old wants to return to winning ways in Sky Bet League One but recognises the challenge that Plymouth will bring this weekend.
“It was disappointing last week against Wimbledon - it felt like a game we were looking to build into.”
Head coach Michael Skubala is hoping a return home to the LNER Stadium will push the Imps to victory against a strong Plymouth side who he believes has much more quality than league position suggests.
Skubala added: "I don't think they've got going yet, when you look at their squad and the power they've got in the team.
"They're trying to adapt with a new manager and a new style of play but I don't think they've got going in the league yet so It'll be good for them to come to our place and hopefully we can the business."
Plymouth will be hunting for their first points after relegation last season and Tom Cleverley’s side’s ambitions for an immediate return to the Championship have yet to take off in League One, but it was victorious midweek against QPR in the EFL, so will be looking to build on that win.
