The Imps had to settle for a point in a goalless draw against Stevenage, which sees them retain 12th position in League One.

The clean sheet and a more confident second half performance gives head coach Michael Skubala something to build on and he thanked supporters for the way they backed his side.

Both teams had the ball in the back of the net with the assistant's flag already up when Carl Piergianni struck for Stevenage in just the second minute, while Lewis Montsma’s effort for the Imps was also ruled offside by the linesman later in the game.

Skubala’s men kept looking for a goal right up to the final whistle and forced several corners but had to settle for the point.

“In the second half in particular we were more like ourselves with more intensity and getting on the front foot, and the fans played a big part in pushing us on during that part of the game.

“I liked how we tried to push the game and I can’t knock the lads’ effort - they’re trying hard and so long as we keep up that effort we’ll get back to where we want to be.”

Attendance: 8,220 (312 away).
