Imps’ awards night

Players, supporters and club staff came together on Sunday night to celebrate the 2024/25 campaign at Lincoln City FC’s annual awards evening.

At a packed Engine Shed, Tendayi Darikwa capped off his first season in Lincoln City colours with a double award swoop, claiming the coveted Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

There was also double recognition for academy graduate Jovon Makama, who landed the Young Player of the Year award and was crowned City’s Golden Boot winner, after finding the net 11 times in 45 appearances, including a scintillating first career hat-trick against Bristol Rovers in March.

Reeco Hackett claimed the Goal of the Season prize for his innovative free kick goal against Bolton Wanderers in April, with the wonder strike claiming a big majority from those in attendance. Meanwhile, Freddie Draper was rewarded for his work in the community with the Community Player of the Year.

There was a special moment as Alan Long was surprised with the Special Recognition award to honour his incredible contribution the City, with the 2024/25 campaign seeing Alan surpass 1,000 games as the club’s stadium announcer. He received a standing ovation from everyone in the room when his name was revealed.

At the start of the ceremony, Paudie O'Connor, Sean Roughan, Ben House, Adam Jackson and Conor McGrandles joined head coach Michael Skubala on stage and were presented with their milestone shirts in recognition of making over 100 appearances for City.

Lincoln City Women also celebrated their campaign and there was more double-award success, this time for Shelbey Morris, who scooped the Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.
