
Driver admits killing Cristina
The driver who killed a Lincoln woman as she walked her dogs has been warned by a judge he faces a jail sentence.
The family of Maria Cristina Cherina Munoz (known as Cristina Cherino), 55, was at Lincoln Crown Court to hear Tarequal Islam admit causing her death by dangerous driving.
The 32-year-old father of two of Lindum Avenue was bailed to appear at for sentencing on August 27 and was warned by Judge James House QC that the likelihood of a custodial term was ‘overwhelming’.
Cristina, the mother of Elisa and Daniel, suffered head injuries after being struck by Islam’s car near a pedestrian crossing on Carholme on May 13. She was taken to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre but died two weeks later. Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 7.
“My mum was the kindest human being and we are so lucky to have had her as our mum,” said Elisa.
