Coop runs free bus for Nettleham villagers after fire
A free bus service between Nettleham and Welton is being run by Lincolnshire Co-op.
The service started last Thursday and has been set up by the retailer following the fire which caused extensive damage to its Nettleham food store shutting down its services in the village for an estimated four months.
The service, operated by PC Coaches Monday to Friday, is to give villagers access to the food store, post office and pharmacy at Welton while the Nettleham site is out of action. The pick-up point is Church Street, opposite The Green and the timetable is available through the link below.
An update on the Coop’s website explained: “We’re currently working with experts on clearing the site, making it watertight and getting the utilities connected. We will then need to test all the equipment and will be assessing what we need to do to enable us to reopen. There is an extensive level of damage.
“As well as the shuttle bus, we aim to be able to support the community with alternative arrangements – potentially a pop-up shop – and we’ll announce more in due course.
“Our colleagues have been redeployed into other local Lincolnshire Co-op services.”
The defibrillator on the site is temporarily unavailable and until it can be relocated another defibrillator can be found at Nettleham Community Hub on East Street.
