City out to extend winning start at home

Michael Skubala is looking to continue his side’s positive form against Mansfield Town when they visit the LNER Stadium on Saturday.

The Imps return home following three back-to-back trips on the road and look to continue their good form picking up four points in the league and victory in the Carabao Cup on their travels.

The Imps’ head coach said: “We’re at home, we want to take the game to them. We’ve started well so we want to go again and try to get the three points.

“They are a very good side, I watched their game against Everton and I’ve seen all of their matches so far this season and for me they’re a completely different side to what they were last season.

“They’ve got a lot of strength and power and they’ve started really well. They’re up there with the leagues top goalscorers so they can be a real threat

“Mansfield’s last three performances have been really strong, especially against Leyton Orient who are a top team. We’ve just got to make sure that we perform, do our job and play the game that we want to play.”

City’s Carabao Cup third round opponents were drawn on Wednesday evening, with Chelsea set to visit the LNER Stadium in September. Skubala provided his reaction to a test against Enzo Maresca’s world champions.

He added: “It’s a great draw for the city, the fans and brilliant for the club and of course the players are buzzing as well.

"We wanted to get in the hat for the next round, try to get a big club and to have a special day and it’s worked out that way.”
