Carholme Road improvements update

An overview of progress on the Carholme Road improvement project has been published by Lincolnshire County Council’s highways department.

Achieved in July

  • Removed blockages and cleared debris within the drainage system on Carholme Road
  • Installed new LCC surface water drainage gullies and laterals within Phase 1 (Westfield Street to Gresham Street)
  • Carried out carriageway resurfacing and replaced road markings on Staunton Street and Staunton Court
  • Started drainage, kerbing and footway works on Gresham Street 
  • Started drainage works within Phase 2 (Gresham Street to Roman Wharf) installing new LCC Surface water drainage Gullys and laterals
  • Ironworks reinstatement and repairs

What’s happening in August

  • Night-time carriageway resurfacing works on Carholme Road for Phases 1 and 2
  • Complete Gresham Street improvement works
  • Footway resurfacing in localised areas throughout the site
  • Install new LCC surface water drainage gullies and laterals within Phase 2 (Gresham Street to Roman Wharf)
  • Reinstate and repair ironworks

Current/ongoing traffic restrictions and closures

  • Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals on weekdays throughout the project

Upcoming traffic restrictions and closures

  • Narrowed lanes and temporary traffic signals on weekdays throughout the project
  • Night-time road closures from 7pm-6am within Phase 1 starting w/c August 4 for up to two weeks
  • Night-time road closures from 7pm-6am within Phase 2 starting w/c August 18 for up to three weeks

Project phasing

  • Phase 1: just past Nelson Street to just past Charlesworth Street
  • Phase 2:  just past Charlesworth Street to just past Roman Wharf
  • Phase 3: just past Roman Wharf to just past Severn Street
  • Phase 4: just past Severn Street to just past the golf club 

A county council public liaison officer will be in touch with residents and businesses affected closer to the time of the road closures with further updates.
