Discover old Lincoln houses in video

Thank you once again to Light and Dreams Photography for bringing Lincoln’s past to life.

This video has been created by John Bennett after he found a few old photos of grand old houses that have disappeared from Lincoln.

“To be honest I never even knew they existed. Most people know about the really big ones, Hartsholme and Boultham Halls, mainly because they have left us with beautiful public parks long after they were demolished,” he explained.

“Over the course of this project I've made videos of several other great lost houses around the city, some I wasn't aware of when I started. So now I've discovered even more obscure ones I decided it was time to put all the ones I've already done into one video, so here it is.”

The houses included are Hartsholme Hall, Boultham Hall, Bracebridge Hall, Eastgate House, Monks Manor, Eastcliff House and Monks Tower.

The video had sparked interest even before we put it up on the site as our technical advisor Dan Ellmore said Boultham Hall was connected to both his parents.

Its outline would have been outside his mum’s lounge window and his dad used to play on the site when he was growing up and the hall was derelict.
