Lincoln Cathedral fundraising dinner raises £54,000 for Chaplaincy work
A sold-out charity dinner held in Lincoln Cathedral raised £54,000 for chaplaincy services across Lincolnshire.
The event, held on Friday 21 March, marked the opening night of the Festival of Chaplaincy - a weekend dedicated to celebrating and promoting the essential role of chaplains in local communities.
Guests were treated to a fine dining experience in the Cathedral’s iconic Nave, where 500 attendees gathered to lend their support to three key causes: Lincoln Cathedral, the Lincolnshire Rural and Agricultural Chaplaincy (LRAC), and the Lincolnshire Chaplaincy for Health and Community (LCHC).
Television and radio personality John Inverdale hosted the evening, joined by Sixth Form ambassador pupils from Lincoln Minster School, who helped support the smooth running of the event. Organisers said the dinner exceeded expectations in both fundraising and awareness-raising.
Sally-Ann Robinson, joint chair of the festival’s organising committee, said: “The outstanding success of the Festival was not only to raise much-needed funds but also to increase awareness of the work of chaplains, offering support and a listening ear where needed across the County. The committee would like to thank all the sponsors and guests who attended this event.”
The dinner kicked off a weekend of activities across the city, shining a light on chaplains working in diverse settings - from agriculture and rural life to GP surgeries and community spaces.
