Strong acoustic performer for Lincoln Live

Jo Richards, a fan of the city’s music scene, continues her countdown to Lincoln Live this weekend by giving readers the lowdown on the artists who will be performing on the two stages on Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31.

Introducing…Stephen Tanner, from South Lincolnshire, who will be on stage at St Paul’s in the Bail on Sunday, August 31. He’s a powerful singer, with a strong acoustic country sound, who lists his inspirations as Jason Isbell, Frank Turner and Damien Rice. 

He says: “Expect heartfelt lyrics with catchy melodies that will stay in your head for a long time after.” 

Fans of his music may have seen him play previously as frontman of Stephen Tanner and the Runaways. Two full studio albums have been released in recent years, The Sound of the Unlocking and Enough. 

He describes this music as, ‘Americana that will both entertain you and break your heart’. 

He has received acclaim in the form of extensive BBC radio airplay and a support slot on Billy Lockett’s UK Tour in 2023. Stephen loves to play live, ‘as often as possible’, so the Lincoln Live audience will be treated to a polished show.
