Medieval jousting at castle this weekend
Visitors to Lincoln Castle will be able to feel the thunder of hooves and the clash of steel as the Medieval Joust returns this weekend.
On August 2-3 knights in shining armour will do battle in a thrilling competition inside the castle’s medieval walls.
As well as the tournament spectacle, families can see birds of prey in full flight in falconry displays, and meet colourful characters, including the medieval fool and the gruesome surgeon.
Young knights can join the fun too, by taking part in their own ‘Barbaric Battles’ in the arena or have a go at jousting themselves on the wooden rolling horse.
Stephanie Beecher, Lincoln Castle events officer, said: “We can’t wait to welcome some of the best international jousters to Lincoln and see the castle transformed into a medieval battleground for this extra-special weekend.
“If you’ve yet to experience the thrill of the joust, don’t miss out! Cheer your champion and enjoy the ‘Sport of Kings’ as the clash of lances rings out across the city.
“With so many activities taking place, this is a historic extravaganza the whole family will enjoy.”
Entry to the joust is included with a castle day ticket or annual pass, which includes entry to the Victorian Prison, Medieval Wall Walk and Magna Carta.
To make it even easier to enjoy a great day out, families can take advantage of new, flexible family tickets, offering a 15 per cent discount on full price entry.
