Alice Kat looking forward to Lincoln Live
Aficionado of the city’s music scene JO RICHARDS continues our countdown to Lincoln Live by telling readers about the performers who will be performing at the two-day, two-venue event.
Introducing…Alice Kat, an experienced songwriter from Boston, who will be playing the Lincoln Live 2025 event in City Square on Saturday, August 30. She describes her music as pop rock and up until now her live shows have been acoustic. “This will be the first time I’ve had a full backing band live, so I’m excited to play the songs in the way they were recorded.”
Alice was inspired to play the guitar after watching, Josie and the Pussycats, a film which follows a teenage band on their rise to fame.
She uses her music as, “a lifetime diary.” She has a strong, lively vocal style backed up by punchy guitar riffs, reminiscent of the indie singers from the 90s.
A peruse through her tracks on Bandcamp shows just how productive she’s been in the studio. She says she’s struggled to play live as much as she would like as ‘my working life is just so busy.’
“My favourite live performances have been playing for B.O.B.I (Boston Original Band Initiative.) It supports local live music, which is something that's been missing in Boston for a while. However, Lincoln Live will be my biggest event to date and I’m looking forward to that.”
