Youngsters learn to tackle emergencies
Working with the emergency services has helped young people tackle crises such as severe weather, a pandemic or long-term power cuts.
The youngsters from across the county have been taking part in the Duke of Cornwall Awards, which they received during a special ceremony at the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Training Centre at Waddington.
participants learned how to assist vulnerable people, and work alongside local services including fire, police and ambulance teams.
Dozens of local Scouts, guides, members of youth groups, and individuals were presented with awards by the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Toby Dennis, and Chief Fire Officer, Mark Baxter.
Mark Baxter said: “It’s nothing short of inspiring to see the dedication of these young people, who want to make a difference in their communities.
“By learning how to protect and support others in emergencies, they have not only developed their confidence and built useful skills they can take forward in life but also strengthened the safety nets in their local areas.”
Toby Dennis said: "It has been a privilege to meet with these special individuals at this awards ceremony.
“Their commitment to public service and safety reflects the very best of Lincolnshire’s values.
“They truly are a credit to their communities, and I am glad to be recognising their achievements.
The event, hosted by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue in partnership with the Lincolnshire Resilience Forum, included interactive demonstrations and opportunities for young people to engage with emergency service professionals.
