Imps top of the league for families

Lincoln City FC has again been named among the best clubs in the English Football League for their matchday family experience.

The Imps were rated third out of all 72 EFL clubs in its 2024/25 Family Excellence Scheme, which sees all clubs assessed through mystery shoppers.

The scheme assesses the matchday experience for families through two visits from assessors who evaluate the journey from buying tickets to the moment they leave the stadium.

Lincoln City was praised for the quality of its pre-match communication with supporters, family entertainment and the service of fan representatives, which all contributed to ensuring families enjoyed a positive experience.

Matchday social media was described as the best in the EFL for the second year in a row, while the club’s approach to emails was hailed as outstanding.

City was one of 18 clubs awarded the Gold standard - with the Imps achieving this for the third season in a row.

City's head of club services Rob Noble said: "To achieve the gold standard again is testament to the hard work of everyone at the club over the past 12 months. Thank you to everyone who has helped us deliver the best possible matchdays for supporters.

"We're proud to be recognised as leading the way in the EFL and to again be rated above so many clubs who have greater resources than us."

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch added: “We are incredibly proud of the effort all our clubs put in to ensure the matchday experience is a welcoming and enjoyable one for all families.

"To see more clubs than ever before receive Family Excellence recognition is testament to the unforgettable day out our clubs work hard to deliver for families up and down the country. The scheme is designed to support clubs and we have seen it help them to expand their ever-growing fanbases and attract the next generation of supporters.”
