Give Abuse the Red Card

Give Abuse the Red Card

As the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 tournament reaches its latter stages Lincolnshire’s Give Abuse the Red Card campaign aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse and encourage respectful relationships throughout the community.

Running through to July 27 the campaign taps into the excitement and national momentum of the Women’s Euros to spotlight an issue that affects people in every corner of society. It highlights how the values seen on the pitch, teamwork, unity, and respect should also be part of everyday relationships and home life.

Organised and supported by local councils, Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Partnership, Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Specialist Service, the Lincolnshire Football Association, and Respect, the campaign encouraging both men and women to reflect on their relationships and know where to turn for help if they need it.

The campaign is backed by Olivia Clark, Welsh international goalkeeper and granddaughter of former Council Chief Executive John Thomas.

“As a goalkeeper, my job is to protect, stay alert and support my team no matter what. Off the pitch, that same protection and support are just as important. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected in their own home, their relationships, and their community.

“That’s why I’m proud to support the ‘Give Abuse the Red Card’ campaign during the Women’s Euro 2025. Domestic abuse and football should never go hand-in-hand. Football brings people together, it's about teamwork, unity and respect. Those same values need to be part of our everyday lives, too.

“Domestic abuse can happen to anyone. If you’re living in fear or know someone who might be please reach out. There is support available. Let’s stand together and give abuse the red card for good.”

As Euro 2025 continues to inspire, the campaign invites everyone in Lincolnshire to consider how they can be part of a culture of safety, respect and support and to speak out against abuse.
