600 cyclists on C2C2C ride today

Good luck to the 600-plus cyclists who have already started the annual C2C2C (Castle to Coast to Castle) bike ride today.

Setting off from Lincoln Rugby Club the riders have the choice to cycle over 100 miles between Nettleham and Saltfleet or extend their route to 200km with an additional stretch in the Wolds.

The ride did originally start at Lincoln Castle, but as the event’s popularity grew it became difficult to ride into the city. Most people ride in teams with members riding part of the route in relays, but many complete the whole route supported along the way by volunteers at village food stations.

Last year the cyclists raised £50,000 for Lincolnshire Lowland Search and Rescue, Buddies Dementia Café, Lincoln City Foundation, Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, St Barnabas Hospice, The Buddy Bag Foundation, Mablethorpe RLNI and Children’s Bereavement Centre, as well as donations to the villages who hosted the C2C2C feed stations.

This year the charities are Headway, LIVES, Children’s Bereavement Centre, Downs Syndrome Support Group, Andy’s Children’s Hospice, Lindap and sponsorship places will be available for Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, St Barnabas Hospice and Children’s Bereavement Centre.

If you spot riders show your support by giving them a wave.
