West Lindsey council tax to rise by under 3%
Council tax bills in West Lindsey are to go up by £7.38 a year on a Band D Property – a rise of 2.97 per cent.
District Council chiefs said the rise will ensure frontline services can be maintained while major initiatives are delivered.
The current rate for a Band D home is £248.76 so the increase will take this to £256.14, but when residents get their bills in mid-March these will also be made up of levies from Lincolnshire County Council, Lincolnshire Police and town or parish councils.
Leader of the West Lindsey District Council, Cllr Jackie Brockway said: “Supporting our communities remains at the heart of everything we do. Since June 2023, we have awarded 130 grants totalling £1.35 million across our Community Action, Community Facilities and Community Development funds.
“I’m incredibly proud that for every £1 we have invested, partners have matched or levered in a further £1.88, a remarkable return that strengthens every corner of our district.
“These grants are making a real difference from Market Rasen, Caistor, Scotter, Hemswell Cliff, Gainsborough, Saxilby, Marton, Bardney and Cherry Willingham. They are helping to deliver projects that matter to local people, including arts and culture, wellbeing, heritage, digital connectivity, regeneration, sport, education, skills and transport. This level of investment reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring our communities thrive, now and into the future.”
WLDC’s plans also include pursuing the once-in-a-generation opportunity to regenerate the former RAF Scampton site.
Cllr Brockway added: “The council has once again unanimously agreed to make a bid for the former RAF Scampton site from the Home Office. Working together in partnership with Scampton Holdings Ltd, we can regenerate the site, create jobs and bring visitors to the area in what will be a landmark scheme for the area.”
