Stolen mopeds ridden dangerously
Stolen mopeds are being ridden dangerously around the Lincoln area.
Police are investigating a series of incidents in the North Hykeham and Lincoln areas in which stolen mopeds are putting pedestrians and other road users at risk.
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a motor vehicle and enquiries are ongoing. The dangerous driving has caused concern in the community, but police have warned people not to intervene in any future incidents.
“We are aware that in previous incidents members of the public have tried to pull the riders off the mopeds,” said a police spokesperson.
“We strongly advise that the public remain cautious and prioritise their own safety. We would strongly urge people not to attempt to intervene or try to stop those involved, as this could place you in danger and potentially lead to serious injury.”
Police are also reminding moped owners on how to reduce the risk of theft including using approved locks; keeping it in a secure garage or under well-lit CCTV and reporting any suspicious behaviour promptly. Find out more: https://www.lincs.police.uk/.../theft-motorcycles-scooters/
