Serial shoplifter jailed
Thief Daniel Barnett has been jailed for four months for offences in the Lincoln area.
The 47-year-old (pictured), of Sixfield Close, Lincoln, pleaded guilty to five counts of theft involving goods worth £620 when he appeared before city magistrates' last week.
Barnett was subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order and also pleaded guilty to six counts of breaching this.
He admitted to stealing alcohol, butter, coffee, meat, and laundry / washing-up products from the Lincolnshire Co-Op in Bracebridge Heath, Brant Road, and North Hykeham. He also pleaded guilty to stealing fossils valued at £180.00 from Lapid Art on Steep Hill, Lincoln.
Community Beat Sergeant Alex Taylor said: “Barnett is a prolific offender who has been convicted of shop thefts across the City of Lincoln and in North Kesteven. Officers from Neighbourhood Policing Teams, Response Officers and our Response Investigation Team have collaborated on this case to bring Barnett before the courts.
“Retail crime is a force priority as shop staff should be able to come to work without fear of being witness to or victims of crime and anti-social behaviour.
“We also acknowledge the broader impact that shop theft has on our local communities, particularly in shaping public confidence in policing. We are committed to taking decisive action against those who disrupt the lives of hard-working individuals.
“When prolific offenders are brought to justice, it not only helps reduce demand on police resources but also enables officers to focus on other pressing issues affecting the communities they serve.
