Re–kerbing works will cause traffic delays

Traffic delays are expected when kerbing reinstatement works are carried out at the entrance to Pig Lane, off Skellingthorpe Road in Lincoln, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 27-28.

The works are being carried out by City of Lincoln Council’s contractors, Lindum Construction, and will complete the final stage of highway-related improvements connected to the western access of the Charterholme development.

To enable the works to be carried out safely, temporary traffic management will be in place over the two days with four-way temporary traffic signals operating on the northern side of Skellingthorpe Road, near the Pig Lane junction, as well as at the Birchwood Avenue junction.

The signals will be in operation from 9.30am on the Wednesday until around 3.30pm the following day and will be monitored to keep disruption to a minimum.

The northern path along Skellingthorpe Road will also be temporarily closed while the works are underway, with crossing points in place to maintain safe access for pedestrians.

Road users should allow extra travel time as gas works are also taking place on Doddington Road over the same period, which may increase congestion in the wider area.

Maria Clayton, Project Manager for Major Developments at City of Lincoln Council said: “We appreciate that there will be some disruption for road users during these works and would like to thank people for their patience whilst our contractors complete the works.”
