Port Vale 0, Lincoln City 2
Goals from Ben House and Rob Street saw Lincoln City finish a memorable 2025/26 campaign on a high and set more new records in front of 3,000 travelling fans.
The 29 games unbeaten in Sky Bet League One is the longest run any club has achieved in this division - beating the previous record set by a Luton Town side that included Sonny Bradley and James Collins in 2018/19.
The 103 points accrued is also the most any Imps side has ever earned in a single season and the victory at Vale Park was its 13th win on the road - matching the club record set in 2020/21 by the side which reached the League One play-off final.
The home side provided a guard of honour as the League One Champions came on to the pitch, which was appreciated by the side which included one enforced change, with Ivan Varfolomeev ruled out due to a knee injury. Tom Bayliss came into the starting XI, alongside Conor McGrandles.
City took the lead through a move which was started and finished by House – as he won the ball and passed to Moylan and received the return before getting past three defenders and firing a low effort into the far corner.
City doubled their advantage five minutes into the second period. A long pass from Deji Elerewe was headed down by Street into the path of Moylan, whose first-time shot crashed off the outside of a post but fell nicely for Street to fire home.
Head coach Michael Skubala admitted he was running out of words to describe his history-making side: “You could argue there was nothing riding on this game, but they just do it again. They keep showing that ruthlessness and relentlessness. We keep pushing, we keep playing our way, and I thought there were some outstanding performances again.
“It’s hard to single anyone out because everyone was exceptional. The substitutes came on and affected the game again, and I’m just really proud of the group. To reach 29 now and break another record is incredible. We’ve broken so many this season. I’m not sure you can replicate a campaign like this - it’s iconic, it’s historical, it’s amazing.
“You could see how proud everyone was - the supporters, the staff, everyone connected to the club. It means a lot.”
