Newport pothole repairs going ahead tonight
Potholes along Newport in Lincoln will be repaired tonight (Thursday, March 5) with the road being closed to traffic.
The works will patch multiple potholes along the full length of Newport between the Lincoln bypass and Newport Arch with around 600m² of carriageway being repaired
Jonathan Evans, Head of Highway Client at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “These works are necessary along Newport to ensure that the route remains safe and reliable for all who use it.
“The original work programme was meant to take three nights of work, but we have been able to put more crews on this to mean it will now take one night instead.”
The works will take place overnight with crews working from 8pm to 6am – Newport will be closed with no formal diversion, but advanced warning signs have been placed at key locations.
Access for residents will be maintained throughout. Crews will assist anyone needing to enter or leave the area during the work programme, when possible.
“The repairs will provide a smoother, safer and more durable road surface for all users and these improvements will also support two major upcoming events, the Lincoln 10k and The Lincoln Grand Prix, helping ensure that both can take place safely in April and May.”
