Meet the RAF Waddington vehicle search dogs
Getting the week off to a heart–melting start this Monday morning are the Dogs of Waddo.
More specifically these are RAF Waddington Vehicle Search canines – known The Spaniels (with one cute interloper).
Aged between five and six years old these dogs are trained to passively search and indicate the presence of arms and explosives in and around vehicles from cars and trucks to trains and aircraft.
Working closely with their handlers, they play a vital role in maintaining security across the air base south of Lincoln.
We’re told that away from operations, the dogs enjoy time with their handlers, often running around together in a field chasing balls
Training for search dogs can take anywhere between 12 weeks and six months, depending on the individual animal, but the tailored approach ensures they are fully prepared to support safe and effective operations.
