Man jailed for child sex offences

A Lincoln man has been jailed for 10 years after being convicted of serious sex offences involving children.

Marc Gothorp, aged 45, of Carram Way, made almost 4,000 indecent images of children, Lincoln Crown Court heard last week.

He pleaded guilty to

• three counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of the rape of a child under 13 
• making indecent images of children comprising 1,870 category A, 1,316 category B and 592 category C images
• distributing 21 category A indecent images of children.

Gothorp was arrested by officers from Lincolnshire Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) last November.

The court also classified Gothorp as a dangerous offender and he was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
