Lincoln City 4, Wycombe Wanderers 3
Lincoln City reached the 100–point league table landmark in a seven-goal thriller, which saw the Imps beat Wycombe Wanderers in front of a packed home crowd.
There was a celebratory atmosphere to proceedings as the presentations after the match, including lifting of the Sky Bet League One title trophy, were eagerly awaited by fans.
The Imps also extended their unbeaten record to 28 games, but Wycombe made the Champions work hard for the victory.
Jack Moylan and Reeco Hackett, with a penalty for handball given against Luke Leahy, had given the Imps a 2-0 lead at the break before the latter scored again in the second half to make it 3-0.
Josh Scowen pulled one back on 57 minutes from a tap in after George Wickens had initially saved his shot but was unable to clear and the visitors made it 2-3 from a similar scenario on 74 minutes with Declan Skura the scorer.
Tendayi Darikwa made it four for the Imps after 83 minutes when he found himself one-on-one against Norris in the box. The keeper stayed on his line before the Imps captain fired the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
This made the Chairboys’ third goal after 94 minutes academic - Cauley Woodrow ran with the ball at his chest into the goal, with Wickens unable to do anything.
City used all their substitutions with Moylan, Rob Street and Conor McGrandles making way for Dom Jefferies, Ryan Oné and Tom Bayliss on 68 minutes followed by Alfie Lloyd coming on for Hackett at the 83rd minute and Erik Ring replacing House with two minutes of normal time to go.
The victory ensured the Imps could celebrate lifting the Sky Bet League One trophy off the back of a victory, with head coach Michael Skubala hailing a historic moment for the team.
“I’m unbelievably proud of the players that have given everything for the badge and the fans that support the players and give everything for them.
“It’s an emotional day for everyone and I think the lads were feeling it a little, but as they have done so often this season, they found a way to win again.
“It is a really historic moment for the lads, you have to give credit to them, they have been excellent and so have the staff. It has been an unbelievable season.
To get 100 points is unbelievable. The likes of Sonny, Tendayi and Reachy have had incredible careers and they are saying that it’s their best ever achievement. That shows you what an incredible season this has been.”
