A brace from Reeco Hackett and a goal from Ben House secured another three points for Lincoln City.

Hackett gave the Imps the lead in the first half and House extended the lead after a chipped shot over the head of the goalkeeper Ted Cann, before Hackett sealed the deal just before the end of the first half.

The Imps controlled the second half and never looked like conceding, though they were unable to add further goals to the scoreline.

Imps’ defender Sonny Bradley (pictured below)praised the team’s focus after they extended their unbeaten league run to 22 games: “Preparation for this was the same as it has been for every game we’ve had this season.

“I think you could see that out there we had a real focus and from the first minute no one took their foot off the gas.

“We went out there and performed as well as we have done recently and we got the result that we deserved.”

City were without Adam Reach who missed out through injury, with Ryley Towler coming into the squad and Bradley was full of praise for the players who stepped in.

He added: “Throughout a tough season, you need everybody. Ryley was excellent and Deji did his job when he came on, too.

“Football is a team game and you need the whole squad. I think all the lads appreciate just how hard everyone works in training.

“Even the ones who aren’t starting week in week out keep the intensity up in training and that has been evident when they’ve played.”

Head coach Michael Skubala added his praise: It was a professional performance from start to finish and a good day at the office.

"Rotherham came with a different shape to what they have been playing with, and it took us a bit of time to get the required information to the lads. In the second part of the first half some of the football was sensational.

"We looked aggressive and were front footed. In the second half we did a really professional job, didn't give any chances up and looked really threatening through our substitutes."

City's trip to Doncaster next weekend is postponed due to international call-ups and the Imps are next back in action on Good Friday when AFC Wimbledon visit the LNER Stadium.
