City eye progress in Carabao Cup

The Imps start their 2025/26 Carabao Cup campaign with a trip to Harrogate Town tonight (7.45pm KO).

Head coach Michael Skubala is looking for a confident performance from his Lincoln City side as it looks to reach the next round of the competition when they travel to The Exercise Stadium.

"We want to put a team on the pitch that can be competitive but of course we have to try and look after some bodies. We want to go and win the game and get through to the next round.

“We’re confident, but they will be too. They’ve started well, we’ve watched both of their games back and they’re a competitive team, they know how to play. They’re solid in what they do and we’ve got to go to their place.

“All the cup competitions are really important to the club and to the fans. We want to do well and I think we can fight on all fronts and we want to do that."

Defender Tom Hamer is looking forward to the fixture: "It's good to be back. Once you're back from the off-season, you can't wait to get back going and with the league coming back a few weeks ago, it feels good to be back.

"We know what Harrogate are about, having done our analysis on them. We'll go into the game like any other game, try to win and do what we've been working on during the week."

Harrogate have enjoyed a strong start to their Sky Bet League Two campaign, with an opening day victory against Bristol Rovers being followed up by a 3-3 draw against Grimsby Town, although Simon Weaver's side did lead 3-1.

A number of new signings have come through the door at Harrogate, forwards Shawn McCoulsky and Raace Smith have joined from Maidenhead United alongside experienced forward Mason Bennett. They've also bolstered their defensive third with the signings of Tom Bradbury, Lewis Cass and Jack Evans.

City will once again be wearing their violet third kit (pictured).
