Arrests in drink/drug driving crackdown
Operation Limit has seen 44 people arrested for drink/drug driving offences so far this December.
Lincolnshire Police’s Christmas crackdown on driving under the influence of drink or drugs has seen officers carrying out extra patrols with checkpoints at key locations for breathalyser testing.
“Do we really need to say that driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs impairs your judgement and ability to drive safely?” queried a police spokesperson.
“You endanger the lives of other road users and pedestrians as well as your own.”
Drink or drug driving can result in injury or death and convictions have other potential consequences including:
- a criminal record
- a large fine
- losing your job
- losing your licence
- an increase in your insurance premiums
- trouble travelling to certain countries such as the USA.
“The effects of alcohol can take a long time to wear off. Understand that you may still be over the limit the morning after. Sleep, coffee, big meals and cold showers don’t help to sober you up. Time is the only way to get alcohol out of your system.
Please drive responsibly and keep yourself, and others, safe.”
