Arrests for drink/drug driving

As police continue their crackdown on drink/drug driving 26 people have been arrested in the county in the last week.

Eight of the arrests were in relation to drugs and 16 in relation to alcohol. Two people were arrested after failing to provide a specimen. 

“As we do throughout the year, we will be conducting targeted enforcement during December. Expect check points across the county,” said a police spokesperson, who also warned that people who do test positive for drink or drug driving, will be arrested to face the consequences which can be:

  • A night in a cell 
  • A day in court
  • A driving ban
  • A criminal record
  • A fine
  • A prison sentence
