Police awards

The Force Annual Awards highlighted and celebrated outstanding work across Lincolnshire Police.

Presenting the awards Chief Constable Paul Gibson said: “It’s well known that we face financial challenges, and this has required us to adapt. And yet, in the face of these constraints, our people have continued to deliver with professionalism, integrity and compassion. The Annual Awards were our opportunity to recognise that resilience and to highlight the individuals and teams who, despite the pressures, have gone above and beyond. Whether that’s through exceptional operational work, tireless support behind the scenes or inspirational leadership – it deserves recognition. These awards are about shining a light on what we do best.

“Now more than ever, it’s important that we take time to recognise excellence in policing and we were privileged to hear stories of dedication, courage and commitment.”

Among those recognised was Pastor Vera Icheke, who was described as making a powerful and enduring contribution to Learning and Development.

Over the past three years Vera has been involved with the design and delivery of a Policing Black Communities input to student officers and PCSOs.

“Her work has not only deepened understanding of the lived experiences of Black communities but has also improved cultural awareness, empathy, and engagement within our organisation,” said a spokesperson.

“Her work lays the groundwork for a more empathetic and inclusive culture and has been highlighted nationally as a case study for the Police Race Action Plan. That this was undertaken on a voluntary basis makes Pastor Vera’s contribution all the more remarkable. She has given her time and energy to create ripples across our organisation, influencing policy, culture, and most importantly, people.”
