City cinemas remembered

It’s another nostalgic treat from Light and Dreams Photography – this time looking back at Lincoln’s lost cinemas.

We had no idea that some of these picture houses existed but others are familiar and bring back fond memories – my dad trying to get my underage brother into see Life of Brian at the ABC.

John Bennett tried to include every old photo of a lost cinema in his collection and the cinemas in the video are:  the Cannon/ABC/Savoy, The Central, The Grand, The Regal, The Odeon (Tritton Road), The Ritz/Odeon (High Street), The Radion, and The Astoria.

“I know that other venues around the city, such as St. Hugh's church hall on Monks Road, have been used to show films at different times over the years, but this video is about places that were specifically used as cinemas, have I missed any?”
