Vulnerable people urged to get COVID jab

People eligible for the COVID-19 vaccination are being urged to book in for their jab to avoid serious illness.

The NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is calling on those people particularly vulnerable to the virus to protect themselves and those around them before the current seasonal vaccination campaign closes on June 30.

The ICB pointed out there is good appointment availability across GP practices and community pharmacies to make getting a jab quick and easy.

“COVID-19 hasn’t gone away,” said Kerrie Linger, Assistant Locality Lead – Vaccination Programme Team, NHS Lincolnshire ICB.

“Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and the people around you. If you’re eligible, now is the moment to act before this campaign ends.”

People eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination include:

  • Aged 75 and over (including those who will be 75 by June 30)
  • Living in a care home for older adults
  • Aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment

Why getting vaccinated matters:

  • Protection against COVID-19 — immunity fades over time, especially for older people and those with underlying health conditions.
  • Reduced hospitalisation — vaccination significantly lowers the risk of severe illness and being hospitalised
  • Community protection — getting vaccinated helps protect vulnerable family members and neighbours.

If you are eligible you can book appointments online or by using the NHS App or call 119. If you are under 18 and eligible you can book a COVID-19 vaccination appointment online or by calling the Vaccine Rapid Response Team (VRRT) on 01522 301980.

“With six weeks to go until the end of the current COVID-19 vaccination campaign if you or someone you care for is eligible, please make time to get protected. It’s quick, it’s safe, and it could prevent serious illness,” adds Kerrie.
