Look after your body and mind – get a health check

People living with mental health conditions are being reminded to look after their physical health with an annual MoT for the body.

“If you live with a condition such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or psychosis, it is important to look after your physical health as well as your mental health. People with these mental health conditions can be more likely to have physical health problems,” said a spokesperson for Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB)

“A yearly physical health check can help find problems early, so you can get the right care and support to stay well for longer.”

A check will cover height, weight, blood pressure, and a blood test.

“You can also have a friendly chat about how you are feeling and any health worries you may have. This might be about smoking, being active, eating well, sleeping, or how your medicine affects your body.

“You can say no to any checks you do not want. You can choose what feels right for you, and you can ask questions at any time.”

Appointments are designed to be a safe space where patients can talk openly and get advice that suits their needs. Eligible people who have not had their physical health check this year should contact their GP practice to book an appointment.
