Cliff Villages to lose medicine dispensary from Monday

The dispensary at Cliff Villages Medical Practice will close permanently from Monday, March 2.

The closure is the result of the changes to the practice’s NHS contract.

Patients of the practice, which covers Navenby and Waddington, have just welcomed its reopening at the beginning of this week after it had been forced to close unexpectedly when its Care Quality Commission registration had been removed.

A new service provider, the Welby Group, took over the running of the practice to allow it to reopen but that change means it can no longer provide dispensary services after Monday.

The Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board said patients will be able to get medications from a local pharmacy, which are available in both villages.

What the closure means for patients

  • If you have already ordered your prescription, you can collect it from the practice dispensary as normal up to 5pm on Friday, February 27.
  • If you haven’t ordered, you will need to request your medication from a pharmacy.
  • You will not be able to request or collect medicines from the practice once the dispensary has closed.
  • You need to choose a pharmacy. This is called nominating a pharmacy and once done prescriptions will be sent there electronically.
  • Use Nominating a pharmacy – NHS App help and support – NHS.
  • Finding a pharmacy near you here: Find a pharmacy – NHS.
  • If you would prefer to use an online pharmacy that delivers your medicines to your home, you will need to register with them directly through their website.
