Talking rubbish
Community groups that want to know more about environmental topics can now book a free workshop to discuss related issues.
Lincolnshire County Council’s Waste Services Team has dedicated staff delivering a unique initiative called the Let’s Talk Rubbish Education Programme.
Launched in 2022, the programme was originally designed for primary schools as an innovative and engaging way to teach children about important environmental topics. Through interactive sessions and hands-on activities, pupils learn about waste minimisation, recycling, and the importance of correct waste disposal.
The programme not only helps children understand these vital issues but also enables them to make changes in their schools, homes, and communities.
A spokesman for South Hykeham Community Primary School, said: “All of our classes thoroughly enjoyed their workshops and learnt a great deal about recycling, as did many of the adults too! The presenters were very informative, engaging and friendly. Thank you very much for a great day.”
Now the Waste Services Team is extending the workshops beyond schools and the programme is being offered to community groups and local clubs across Lincolnshire, making it accessible to people of all ages.
The sessions are free to book and can be tailored to the needs of different groups, whether it’s a classroom of pupils, a youth club, or a community group meeting.
So, if you are a community organiser or club leader who would like the team to visit and deliver a workshop, you can get in touch by emailing
