Womanhood exhibition at Lincoln Cathedral
The touring exhibition focusing on the women of Lincoln has arrived at Lincoln Cathedral.
Museum of Me creates mini museums that are made with, for and about the people in our communities who might otherwise go unchampioned.
The overall theme of the Museum of Me in Lincoln is Womanhood and it has already visited the LNER Stadium, The Lawn complex and Lincoln Arts Centre.
It arrived on the Dean’s Green yesterday and the exhibit features six women whose lives are connected to Lincoln Cathedral. They are Alice McMaster, a teenage chorister and competitive swimmer dreaming of the opera stage; Dorothy Moss, a cathedral guide sharing her Jewish heritage and a message of kindness; Jane Cowan, a woodcarver finding peace in nature and the "flow state" of her workshop; Sharon McMaster, a curious first-generation university student who never stops asking questions; Jo Blanchard, a dedicated cathedral verger championing women’s roles within the church; and Rowena King, an Australian-born seeker who found God through nature and a diverse heritage.
The Rev Rowena King, who is Canon Missioner at Lincoln Cathedral, said "We at Lincoln Cathedral are delighted to be part of this project, which celebrates the lives of women across our city. Each life is both ordinary and unique and reminds us of the part we all play in building welcoming and hopeful communities together.”
