Lincoln’s live music scene with Jo Richards

Lincoln’s live music scene with Jo Richards

The Drill presented a top quality three-night run of live music last weekend finishing with Nouvelle Vague on Sunday night.

The inventive French cover band played new wave tracks like you’ve never heard them before, giving songs such as ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ a high brow bossa nova twist. The weekend really does not have to end on Saturday night.

However, last Saturday night did prove a treat for fans of Voodoo Radio who supported Ferocious Dog at The Drill.

After their set the pop punk pair (he’s my dad not my boyfriend) came out to talk to audience members including Lincoln regulars at Blackpool’s Rebellion Festival. The chat included news that VR will be doing two Rebellion sets in 2026 including an acoustic session. Proof that you never know what’s going to happen at a live gig.

So on to this weekend when The Birdcage hosts Salt of the Earth (pictured) on Saturday. This is a group of incredibly talented musicians who deliver beautifully crafted folk songs with rich harmonies and acoustic warmth. Landlady Rachel Brooke has always supported local live music and this landmark pub makes a creative setting for the artists.

If you’re looking for a big-name band, The Lottery Winners will be at The Engine Shed on Friday. This indie-pop act promises humour, heart and high-energy
showmanship.

They follow their gig with a DJ session at Komodo from 10.30 onwards, again giving fans the chance to see band members up close and personal after the show.
