Lincoln’s live music scene with Jo Richards
Last weekend, Southside presented a completely new format to the live gig experience.
The Dave Gedge Duo featured a support act, interview and acoustic set all in one show, which seemed to go down well with the Wedding Present fans in attendance.
The Christmas season is in full swing in the city. Thor's Tipi on the Cornhill started their Ember Sessions last Thursday, with Lloyd & Miles supporting Gaz Clitheroe by the fireside. Next up on theNovember 20 is West End Girl.
It's good to see Sunday live music events taking off in Lincoln, for those of us who want to stretch out the weekend. The Jazz Cafe provides quality acts early evening and The Victoria hosts an Open Mic night to help fend off the Monday blues.
This weekend it's The Drill which really steals the limelight, with three big acts in three days. I'll be there on Saturday night to see the folk-punk powerhouse Ferocious Dog (pictured). It will be a raucous night with the band from Warsop, who regularly make their mark on the punk festival circuit.
