Lincoln’s live music scene with Jo Richards

The best of the original live music acts last weekend were to be found down Lincoln's grimiest alleyway at The Komodo. Very fitting for Halloween. Vin Samson showcased his energetic harmonica playing as part of Dead Man's Boots and the band raised the spirits of those weary from the working week.

If you're looking to shake off thoughts of Christmas by planning big stage events for next summer, the dates for the June 2026 shows at Lincoln Castle continue to be released. This week Cuffe and Taylor announced that 80s synth band OMD will play, supported by Peter Hook & the Light and Andrew Cushin. Scottish singers Deacon Blue will also appear with special guests The Lightning Seeds.

This weekend sees the 90s revived once again in the form of The David Gedge Duo at Southside. David Gedge (pictured) is the singer from Leeds indie-rock band, The Wedding Present, who were famous for their loud, fast-paced, jangly grunge sound. The first part of the show will feature an interview telling the story of their rise to fame, followed by an acoustic set of their back catalogue. Here’s the best of the rest:

  • The Drill – The Big Indie Fest (Tribute bands)
  • The Jolly Brewer – Post-Punk Rebellion: Roz Bruce Infusion/Surburban Toys
  • Southside – Driven Serious (Folk Rock)

  • The Engine Shed – Anti-Clone + Future Theory/Heartstrung
  • Southside – The David Gedge Duo
  • The Victoria – The Detail (Rock/Indie)
