Don’t miss Art of the Now exhibition

The work of more than 100 artists living and working in Lincolnshire can currently be seen at the Art of Now exhibition at Lincoln’s Usher Gallery.

Running until October 18 the gallery’s second open exhibition celebrates the creativity and diversity of local artists with over 140 works selected from more than 900 entries created by 400 artists - the youngest being just five years old.

Co-curated by Nicholas Simpson and Phil Bowman with support from Laura Dexter, the Usher Gallery team, and the Usha Trust, Art of the Now showcases a mix of painting, sculpture, photography, installation, and mixed media.

“The exhibition offers an exciting snapshot of contemporary practice in the region, featuring both emerging and established artists, with no age or experience restrictions,” said Phil.

Nicholas added: “Curating this exhibition was like solving a puzzle—challenging but incredibly rewarding. Each work was carefully considered, and we’ve aimed to create a space where every piece has room to breathe. It’s brilliant to see such a wide range of styles in dialogue with one another and with the public.”

Visitors can also explore the newly rehung Gallery 6 and the Heslam Room.

The Usher Gallery is open Thursday – Monday, 10am – 4pm.
