Discover talents of local artists
The work Royal Academy exhibitor Roy Shapiro will be the focus of tomorrow’s Art Talk at St Nicholas Church Hall on Newport, Lincoln.
Roy Shapiro – Still Life Painting will look at the Lincoln-based artist’s unique approach to the media, which is rick in technical skill and symbolism.
Roy’s work was described by the Sixteen Gallery in Cheltenham as ‘dramatic, filled with narrative and intrigue with a strong sense of individuality and charismatic, almost peculiar take on the still life’.
As well as the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Roy has also exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists.
Tickets for the talk at 7pm are £5 and can be booked at https://www.open-art-lincs.com/art-talks.
The work of more than 30 artists will be available to buy at the Christmas Art Bazaar at The Rickyard Gallery, Wickenby this weekend.

For those who want to use their own artistic talents over the festive season Open Art Lincs (OPAL) has announced the call for its next exhibition, which will have the theme From the Heart.
“We are looking for pieces that tell a story, capture a feeling, or embody a passion that simply has to be expressed. This is an opportunity to showcase art that is not just seen, but that is truly heart-felt,” said Kevin Byron of OPAL.
The Open Art Exhibition will run at the Indigo Crow gallery on Burton Road, Lincoln, from February 2-15.
