Cyclists ride for JET

JETRide 2025 takes this place at RAF Cranwell this Saturday to raise funds to help young people achieve their potential.

The ride is the flagship fundraising event of the Jon Egging Trust (JET), which starts and finishes at the RAF College with sponsored rides of 50, 75 or 100 miles through the countryside of Lincolnshire.

Last year’s ride raised over £30,000 and this year’s event will feature a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (weather permitting).

The Trust was founded in memory of Red Arrow pilot Jon Egging (pictured below) who died while take part in a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival in 2011. It was founded by his widow Emma, his mother Dawn and two of Jon’s friends in 2012 to follow his vision of inspiring young people struggling to engage with education through projects designed to foster confidence, focus, leadership and teamwork.

The first JET Blue Skies programme started at the Priory Witham Academy with 10 students and the Trust has gone on the support over 45,000 students through it and other initiatives that use dynamic STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) settings.

JETRide 2025 starts at 8am on September 13 with entry fees of £35 online or £40 on the day with a fundraising target of £50 per rider. Online entries close tomorrow – see https://www.joneggingtrust.org.uk/event/jetride/
