White Horse listed among UK’s Top 100 Pubs
The White Horse in Lincoln city centre has been recognised in the Good Food Guide’s Top 100 Pubs in the UK for 2025.
The list is published every year and highlight pubs and local restaurants recognised for their food quality, service, and atmosphere.
The guide describes the White Horse as an “all-purpose, city-centre hostelry” with a deceptively large and modern interior.
For drinkers, it says, there is a bar and a cosy snug with high-quality real ales and cider on tap, while diners have a choice of seating options: a section off the bar with round tables and couple seating, a first-floor space called the Gallery for private parties, and a bright Orangery overlooking a small urban garden.
The listing notes that the menu is contemporary, featuring both small and large plates, including all-day service on Fridays and Saturdays. The guide highlights ox cheek tacos with cucumber salsa and spicy chermoula as a standout small plate, and a warm carrot and pecan cake with beurre noisette cream cheese and ice cream as a notable dessert.
The Good Food Guide also commented on the pub’s atmosphere, describing a convivial hubbub complemented by a soundtrack of obscure 60s and 70s tunes chosen by staff. The Sunday roasts were specifically praised, and the service by enthusiastic young staff received an “honourable mention.” Overall, the pub received ratings of Good for overall quality, uniqueness, deliciousness, and strength of recommendation, with Very Good noted for warmth.
In response to the recognition, the White Horse team said: “We’re absolutely over the moon to be named one of the @goodfoodguideuk Top 100 Pubs in the UK! A huge thank you to our amazing team, loyal locals, and every guest who’s pulled up a chair. We’re incredibly proud to receive the @GoodFoodGuideuk 2025 sticker at White Horse!”
